I stayed at ISIS for four nights and overall, it was even better than I expected - the room was clean, the breakfast - traditional English breakfast - well served and tasty. WiFi access is free and available in all rooms. Location is convenient, rather close to the center, quiet place, bus stop just nearby. Highly recommended.

We arrived in Oxford and went to the tourism office to get assistance in finding a hotel. The Isis had rooms available for £45 per night. As others have mentioned, the Isis is student housing for St. Edmund Hall during the school year, so is only available to the general public when school isn't in session...I believe July-September. The rooms were spotless, there was a nice bag of toiletries in the room, and the breakfast was good. Our rooms were in the front, but it was very quiet. The WC and showers were down the hall on this visit. When we returned later in the week, the main guesthouse was full, but they had rooms (en-suite, but without breakfast ) in another building a block away. The location is perfect, with restaurants, pubs, botanical garden, shopping and major sites nearby and we could walk everywhere in Oxford that we wished to go. The five-star rating is based on the value and location for what can be a pricey city to stay in!

Oxford is not cheap! and although I would not normally pay so much for a B&B, I am pleased I chose this one. Part of St Edmunds College during most of the year, it has everything you need. Clean, good beds, adequate on-suite. The breakfast is very good and well cooked. The room had plenty of tea and coffee (a pet hate of mine is lack of tea and coffee in hotels) and a gift of toiletries bearing the 'St Edmunds' logo. It was also ideal as my Granddaughter is looking to get into Oxford next year and this gave her an idea of year 2 accommodation. There is a bus stop over the road, or a short walk into Oxford centre. We also went on the tourist open top bus which runs from Sainsburys (close by). We were also able to leave our luggage after check out which made sightseeing a lot easier.
